Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effect of STEAM-integrated game-based learning supported by PhET simulations on fourth graders' conceptual understanding of simple fractions. This study employed a pre-experimental design with a pre- and post-test design involving 27 fourth-grade students from a public elementary school in Pekanbaru, Indonesia. Data were collected using a simple fractional conceptual comprehension test and analyzed using paired sample t-tests and N-Gain scores to measure the significance and effectiveness of treatment. Findings showed a significant improvement in students’ conceptual understanding after the implementation of STEAM-integrated game-based learning supported by PhET simulations. The N-Gain indicates a moderate level of effectiveness. These findings suggest that the use of STEAM-integrated game-based learning supported by PhET simulations can create an engaging and interactive learning environment, thereby improving students’ conceptual understanding of simple fractions.
